Home Learning
Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you are all keeping well and managing to stay safe. We, the teachers, have all just met remotely to finalise the plans for learning online after the Easter holidays. It was a very strange situation considering we are used to having these meetings in our staff room with a cup of tea and a biscuit!
First of all, we would like to thank you for your continued support and patience during these uncertain times. We have put together a help sheet to offer some guidance but we are very aware that learning at home brings with it many challenges for everyone involved. We hope the material uploaded onto our website will be helpful as you take on the role of your child’s teacher for this period. Each day we will post the work we would like you to complete with guidance on how to do this. Please be aware that on-line learning cannot replicate the actual classroom. Prior to completing any work, the teacher would normally discuss the activity and how to do it. How much input you will need to give will be dependent on the age and ability of your child so please be realistic. Also remember that we learn from our mistakes so it’s ok if your child gets things wrong or doesn’t understand. We are here to support and guide you so please get in touch via email if you need to. Some of you will be working from home and perhaps juggling other family commitments too. There may be days that don’t go to plan and maybe some work won’t be completed so please try not to worry.
As well as the work posted, we may provide information relating to online resources. If you would like to supplement the work being set, many companies are also offering free access. Please be aware we cannot appraise all of these sites. In school C2K filter internet access and this is monitored by teachers. Therefore, we would advise that you ensure your parental controls are in place and that you are present when children are accessing online content.
We hope that you all stay safe and normal school service will resume soon. In the meantime, try to enjoy this new experience! Remember, so much learning already goes on outside school so together we can do this!
Kind regards,
Toreagh Primary School
